Alex’s Story
Alex is a 25 year old dressage rider from Canton, Ohio. She started riding at the age of 7. Her dressage career started with her Quarter Horse, Charm, at age 10 and trained her through First Level successfully. She took Charm to a Courtney King-Dye clinic in 2009 where she met Antonella Bath. Antonella recognized her hard work and dedication to her Quarter Horse and thought she would be a good match for her Off-Track Thoroughbred she had at home. She offered her to come try him and that if she were a good match, she could just take him home! She packed her stuff up from the clinic and went to try the thoroughbred "Princeton". Of course, she was a 16 year old girl who would love to have another horse! Thanks to her parents she was able to take him home that weekend, and the rest is history! Princeton and Alex have made an incredible partnership through the years training through every level together with many different trainers and influences. He has taught her so much that she hopes to bring to many other horses in her Career.
She has trained Gone Ballistic, aka Princeton, an Off-The-Track Thoroughbred, from Training Level dressage to Grand Prix. As well as have trained her Hanoverian, Rubin to fourth level and is schooling the Prix St. Georges.
She looks forward to always learning from every horse she has ridden and applying that to the others that she rides.
Beliefs and Philosophies
Alex’s biggest belief is that horses are horses first and foremost. They need ample amounts of turnout and need to be near other horses. They are highly social animals, and she believes, for them to want to work with her, their needs have to be fulfilled as a horse first. A kind, classical approach in training her horses has proved successful. As well as using a combination of cross training in trail riding, going for jaunts and/or gallops in the field (who doesn't love to have a little gallop on their horses!) and the occasional small jumps for fun!
